Openpop.org is an academic collaborative blog. Its mission is threefold:

  • maximise the economic and social impact of population research through engagement with policymakers, industry, the media and other stakeholders
  • raise the profile of demography and population studies as a discipline
  • enhance links between researchers around the world

Contextually, we would like to provide demographic researchers with a platform to both present their ongoing research and to respond to contemporary population issues of relevance to economic and political stakeholders. In short, we hope Openpop.org could constitute an effective way of linking research-based policy analyses to stakeholders in industry, government and NGOs and to other demographers.

We welcome contributions of 500 to 1000 words on any field of demography. (For further details, see Editorial Guidelines).

The blog is administered by members of the University of Oxford as a joint initiative between the Department of Social Policy and Intervention and the Department of Sociology.
